Award-winning talent

With 21 award wins and 30 award nominations for movies, TV series and commercials he has contributed to, Robert is among Hollywood's most-talented and sought-after directors, artists, and designers.

As a Matte Painter, Visual Effects Supervisor and Production Designer, Robert's first big award win came in 1992 with a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Special Visual Effects for “Star Trek: The Next Generation” (1987) – for episodes ‘A Matter of Time’, ‘Conundrum’, and ‘The Last Halloween’.

Robert's first Academy Oscar Award was for Best Achievement in Art Direction for Avatar (2009) which he shared with Rick Carter and Kim Sinclair. His second Academy Oscar Award was for Best Achievement in Art Direction for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland (2010).

His first Heartland Film Award was for Truly Moving Picture for Maleficent (2014). This was Robert’s directorial debut.
